As soon as the pregnancy is confirmed, it is advisable to contact a midwife \u2013 to discuss the path ahead. The sooner, the easier. However, there is no \u2018too late.\u2019<\/p>\n

Please don\u2019t! Too much information can be overwhelming. It\u2019s better to follow my \u2018What-You-Can-Do-For-Yourself\u2019 list. In the childbirth preparation course, which you should attend between the 28th and 34th week of pregnancy, you will learn everything important about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always wanted children, but I was surprised by the pregnancy and couldn\u2019t be happy at first. Will that harm my child?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You should know that you\u2019re not alone with these feelings! Many pregnant women feel the same way. The fact is: Only two out of ten children are planned. The rest just \u2018happen.\u2019 Luckily, pregnancy lasts nine months \u2013 during this time, you can adjust to the baby. This means it won\u2019t harm the baby if you need time to grow into the joy and welcome them.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy partner seems to be struggling with the changes in my body…\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pregnancy brings major changes to both body and partnership. It\u2019s important to keep communicating. As a midwife, I also feel responsible for translating your feelings and communicating them to your partner.
\nMost partners just want one thing: for you to be well and happy. That\u2019s why I strongly recommend that your partner attends the childbirth preparation course, where they\u2019ll learn how to support you during pregnancy, birth, and beyond.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”208108″]\u201cCan I change my mind about where to give birth, for example from a home birth to a hospital birth?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Feeling unsure is completely normal! You\u2019ll discover the best place for the birth during the pregnancy and through conversations with your midwife. There isn\u2019t only one \u2018right\u2019 way. The way is right when you feel comfortable with your decision. Don\u2019t worry: You always have all the options. Nothing is set in stone. Birth is a dynamic process. A woman who plans to give birth in a hospital may decide to give birth at home \u2013 and vice versa. What\u2019s important is to stay flexible \u2013 and act accordingly.<\/p>\n

“And if it becomes necessary to seek medical assistance?”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I work closely within a broad network of specialists, including gynecologists, pediatricians, osteopaths, and physiotherapists. Should their assistance be required during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum, I can activate this network immediately.<\/p>\n

“Is a water birth or birth using a birthing stool possible?”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Absolutely. However, keep in mind that only during labor will you truly know what feels best for you. It\u2019s very possible that you imagine a water birth will be perfect for you\u2014only to realize during labor that water isn\u2019t where you feel most comfortable. You always have the option to try various birthing methods during contractions.<\/p>\n

“Do we need to remodel our home if we plan for a home birth? Will we need special equipment?”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

No need to worry; a birth requires only a few square meters. The midwife brings all the necessary medical equipment. Where you ultimately give birth will be decided as labor progresses. A source of warmth is essential\u2014after all, we don\u2019t want mother or baby to feel cold. As for other items like sheets or a basin, you likely already have them at home. And rest assured, your home won\u2019t need renovation after a home birth\u2014no extra cleaning is required either.
